INTRODUCING

GLACIER

Back in 2002 we constructed our first ever expedition parka, The Glacier Bay Parka. It was a cooperation with members of the Sail Racing Test Team in preparation for their expedition to Antarctica. Design and construction were led by Sail Racing in-house designer Tomas Nilsson.

The icon redefined

Glacier Parka

Last year we gave Tomas the mission to redefine his icon and construct a pinnacle parka to add to the existing Sail Antarctica Expedition ® collection. The result was Glacier Parka and now we have added the Glacier Jacket, with the same functionality and design features.

LEAD DESIGNER GLACIER PARKA

TOMAS NILSSON

My years as a climber and off-piste skier have taught me the importance of simple and functional clothing in extreme environments. I’m not a professional sailor, but my experience of other sports allows me to put it all together – weight, power, weather, balance and speed.

Sail Racing for me is where science meets fashion. This means unexpected mixes like carbon fibre, titanium and welded seams alongside contemporary styling. A collection of products designed for perfection at sea.

For this season Sail Racing gave me the mission to redefine my first icon, The Glacier Bay Parka. Both design and technologies has evolved since the launch of this parka back in 2002.

I started as always with a blanc piece of paper but as direction I had both the aesthetics, shape and the functionality from the past to follow. My ambition was to carefully renew and refine the expression and technologies into the new decade.

CERTIFIED DOWN & FEATHERS

Quality of down is measured by its fill power. Fill power is the measurement of the amount of space one ounce down will occupy when it reaches its maximum loft. The higher the fill power, the larger the down clusters and the greater the airspace to trap more of body heat.

All our down is RDS and Bluesign certificated and is processed at the Allied Feather and Down facility in California. With Track My Down, you can see exactly what makes the down inside your garment unique – from verified fill powers that exceed what is claimed to cleanliness and content analysis.

Every product has a unique ID number/QR code. Visit www.trackmydown.com to find out more.

COMBINATION OF TECHNOLOGIES

GORE-TEX® & INFINIUM®

The Glacier Parka is constructed using a combination of Gore-Tex® Stretch and Gore-Tex® Infinium technology to give the user maximum performance and comfort where it’s needed. Shoulders, arms and hood are constructed in a 2-layer Gore-Tex Stretch fabric for waterproofness and the rest of the body is constructed using Gore-Tex Infinium® to allow maximum breathability.
