Pertex® fabrics are engineered to be lightweight while maintaining excellent durability, combining advanced textile construction with high-performance membranes and coatings to deliver reliable weather protection across a range of conditions. Founded in 1979, Pertex® has developed its expertise through decades of precision weaving, working with ultra-fine yarns to produce fabrics of exceptional strength-to-weight ratio.
The waterproof variants within the Pertex® Shield family utilise either microporous membrane technology or air-permeable nanofibre membranes, laminated to tightly woven face fabrics in 2-, 2.5-, or 3-layer constructions depending on the intended performance profile. A durable water repellent (DWR) finish applied to the outer face fabric sheds rain and snow while preserving the breathability of the underlying structure. Moisture vapour transmission is maintained throughout, allowing perspiration to escape during high-output activity. Where insulation efficiency is the primary requirement, Pertex® Quantum fabrics use a high-density, tightly interlocked yarn structure to minimise weight and packed volume while enabling insulation to fully loft. Across the range, Pertex® fabrics are available with recycled yarn inputs, reflecting the brand's ongoing commitment to reducing reliance on virgin fossil fuel-derived raw materials.
